Making a Map

The user will be requested to select:
• area to be mapped (e.g. Washington county, area surrounding Little Rock)
• geographic information to display (e.g. geology, soils, roads, rivers)
• output size (e.g. 8.5x11, 44x68 in.)
• output resolution (e.g. 300, 430, 600 dpi)
• output format (GIF, Postscript or Acrobat PDF,

The resulting map can be displayed on the screen, downloaded or received by email.

STEP 1: Selecting the Type of Area to be Mapped (click on one of the selections in large font e.g. Statewide)


Select Area Type
	Generate a map for the entire state of Arkansas. Help and examples.
	Generate a map of counti(es) in Arkansas. Help and examples.
	Make a map showing a city, lake, park, etc. at a scale of 1:24,000, 1:100,000 or 1:250,000 Help and examples.
	Make a map corresponding to a USGS 7.5 minute quad. Help and examples.
	Make a map corresponding to a USGS 30 X 60 minute quad. Help and examples.
	Make a map corresponding to a USGS 1 X 2 minute quad. Help and examples.
	To identify the quads which cover the area you wish to map. Help and examples.
	Customize the extent of your map using available grid-based maps Help and examples.
	Customize the extent of your map using available line-based maps Help and examples.
	Customize the extent of your map using available point-based maps Help and examples.
